Explorer Release 4.12

P2 Explorer version 4.12 supports the ability to add unique metadata to Data Mart exports, and the option to display the data item name on the hairline pill.

Metadata Added to Entities

When integrating into other systems, there is a need to be able to link together items that may be named differently in each system.

An example of this is an Oil Well, that may be known in P2 Explorer as ‘North West 1’, but in another system it may be known by its Well Identifier – 72348475.

This release contains the first part of this capability.

Entity Metadata Fields are created in Shift Log Admin.

Entity Metadata Fields support the following data types:

  • String
  • Integer
  • Decimal
  • Datetime
  • Boolean

In addition, the following ‘unique’ data types are supported:

  • Unique String
  • Unique Integer

If the data type of a field is one of the unique data types, the field values cannot contain duplicate values. This applies across all instances of the field among all entities in the system, making these types of fields suitable for storing for example, external identification numbers or names.

Metadata can be added to an entity by setting a value for a Metadata Field.

While Entity metadata does not appear in the Explorer UI at this point in time, it can be exported with an entity to the Data Mart.

This is performed by adding the entity metadata field to the Exported Metadata list in the Data Mart section of the form configuration.

A form can contain multiple entity fields. Each of these different entity fields will be shown in this screen and each can be configured with different metadata fields if required.

Inside of the Data Mart, this will result in is an extra column being added. If configured as per the screenshot above, a Company ID column will be added and populated with the appropriate value that matches the values configured for that Entity.

With this extra column, a single row in the Data Mart will now contain the Entity Name and now the Company ID.

Show Name on Hairline Pill

The option to always display the name of the data item in the hairline pill has been added to the chart and embedded trend page components, giving the users ready access to that additional information.   Previously this information was only available when the user hovered over the Hairline Pill.

In the chart configuration, the hairline can be configured to show or hide Timestamp, Value, and Name.

In this example, the hairline shows only the Timestamp and the Value.

For the embedded trend, the hairline options are found under Hairline View on the trend toolbar.

P2 Licence Manager No Longer Required

The licencing process has been simplified to remove the need for P2 Licence Manager to be run before requesting the licence file from P2 Customer Support.

The request of a licence from P2 Support and the installation of that licence remains the same as it was in previous versions.

Additional Step for R Licence

If you have a licence for R, this will need to be added as a separate step, after adding the Explorer licence file.
