Shift Log Release 4.10.3

P2 Shift Log version 4.10 adds some exciting new features including the ability to search the content of Entity fields, field sets in forms, the addition of sorting and filtering options to Shift Log tables, a Workbook default time period, and datetime picker to embedded pages.

Shift Log version 4.10.3 is a minor release that includes:

  • Improved user experience with embedded content.
  • Select an entity with one click.
  • Improved searching on custom fields.

Embedded Page Changes

The existing Embed Page component has been split into two separate components to assist with navigation and performance.

iFrame

The existing Embed Page component is now called an iFrame component. It provides the exact same functionality as provided by the original Embed Page component and is intended to display external websites in a workbook.

Embed Explorer Page

A new component has been added to more efficiently display an Explorer Page. It is faster to display pages using this component than using the iFrame. It also provides a better user experience for clicking links and navigating. Any links inside an Explorer page will now open in a new tab, allowing easy access to the workbook.

In Design Mode:

In Explorer Studio, the Embed Explorer Page component has been added to the Display group in the Toolbox.

In design mode, the workbook designer specifies the workspace and page that should be displayed.

Select an Entity with One Click

In this release, when selecting an entity using the entity picker, the drop-down list will automatically close after an entity is selected.

A single click on the name of the entity will now select the entity and close the box.

If an entity has been selected, when you click x to clear it, then the entity picker opens in the same spot in the hierarchy as the cleared entity.

Changes to Custom Field labels in a Workbook

To date, it was possible to change the label of fields in a workbook to be different from the field’s preconfigured Display Name. Unfortunately, this created confusion when attempting to search for a particular field, as the search was performed only on the Display Name, and not on the custom label specified in the Workbook.

Following extensive research and audits of customer databases, we have decided to remove the functionality to set custom labels for a field in a workbook.

In most cases, users will be unaffected. For those that have already used custom labels, a tool has been provided to assist with the transition. This tool will output a list of customized field display names and their locations. It is included as a separate zip file in the installation package.

Following the upgrade, existing custom display names will be moved to a new "Additional Label" option, which displays the additional label in brackets after the field’s Display Name.

Fields whose display names haven't been customized should have no "Additional Label" text. If only the capitalization has changed, then this will not be shown as an Additional Label.
