License Audit

Explorer calculates how many licenses are in use by looking at what is configured in the system and the users that have been given access to the different parts of the system.

 

Administrators are able to view the license usage for of the system to see thier consumption of  licenses.

The License Audit report is only accessible from the following URL, for users with Explorer Admin privileges:

https://[hostmachine]/P2.Explorer/Admin?LicenseAuditReport=true

If you have not opened it via this URL you will not see the Audit Report under the settings menu.

To open the report, click the Settings icon on the left.

The License Audit shows the following information:

  • If configured, it can show the number of licences that you have.  This will show -1 if it has not been configured (Quantity)
  • Number of licences that have been allocated to users, via configuration of security privileges (Configured).  This is the number of licences being consumed.
  • Number of users who have logged in within the last 90 and 180 days (Active)

Logic for License Metrics

Licence metrics are those listed in the Configured column of the report.

The Active users section is provided only for statistics to show the people actively using the system in the 90 and 180 day timeframes.  These are not the licences being consumed.

 

Metrics are calculated as follows.

Explorer

  License Metric (Configured) Active Statistics
Web Users All non disabled users All users who have logged in during the time frame
Analyst Non disabled users, who have privileges (via a role or a user group role), to:

  • Edit or Delete a Calculation
  • Edit or Delete a Workspace
  • Has Explorer Admin privilege

Users who, within the relevant timeframe, have logged in and:

  • Have published a display
  • Have created a time window
  • Have calculation edit/delete privilege
  • Have workspace edit/delete privilege
  • Are admins

Shift Log

  License Metric (Configured) Active Statistics
Shift Log Users Non-disabled users who have privileges (via a role or a user group role), to:

  • Contribute or Publish any workbook
  • Has Shift Log Admin privilege
  • Has Server Admin privilege
 Any user who has, within the relevant, timeframe:

  • Created or modified a Log Entry
  • Created or modified a General Entry
  • Shared a Log or General Entry (Append Form)

Export a Report

To see the statistics list of active users who contributed to a metric in the License Audit, you can click the relevant number and export the list to a CSV file.

The CSV file displays the Name and Display Name of the active users for that time period.
