Explorer Release 4.8.1

P2 Explorer version 4.8 is a minor release that introduces Time Windows, which extends the capabilities of the Trend to associate time windows with event data.

Explorer 4.8 also adds a new Histogram charting component, more trend enhancements, access to a user’s recently opened items, and the ability to create a case via  a link action. This version also addresses issues found in previous releases.

Explorer 4.8.1 is a patch release that adds enhancements to the Performance Curve and improves interoperability with P2 Merrick. This version also addresses several issues found by customers in previous releases.

Performance Curve Colours

When plotting multiple entity attribute values on a Performance Curve, those entities can now be displayed in different colours, chosen automatically by the component.

To show the different colours, during design mode ensure that the ‘Colour’ field is cleared, and does not have any colour selected.

Performance Curve Coefficients

In Explorer Studio, a new ‘Template Curve’ type has been added to the Performance Curve. This is similar to the Polynomial Curve, but instead lets you specify attribute values from an entity template for the coefficients, Constant, and Min/Max values.

On any template, any attribute can be used to store the values to be used in the Performance Curve. To set this up in P2 Server Management, you would typically create an attribute, such as ‘Performance Curve Data’, specifically for this use. This can be added to any template as you would normally add an attribute.

Then, create attribute values for each of the curve fields required: Coefficients, Constant, X-Min, X-Max, Y-Min, Y-Max.

Once the template is set up, you add the specific coefficient and other values for the entity that it applies to.

'Save As' Behaviour

The behaviour of the ‘Save As’ function has been made consistent across P2 Explorer.

When you do a ‘Save As’ for a page or trend, the copied page/trend is always opened in a new Explorer tab, with ‘-copy’ appended to the name.

Server Management 'Connections'

P2 Server Management has added a ‘Connections’  section to the main navigation. This is where admin users now navigate to administer Datasources and Edge Hosts. This keeps the rest of the ‘Configuration’  area focused on actual configuration tasks.

P2 Merrick Interoperability Improvements

Hierarchy Sync Time

When syncing the Merrick hierarchy with the Explorer hierarchy, the sync would take over an hour, and sometimes longer. The hierarchy sync service has been updated to only sync changes that have been made to the hierarchy, rather than syncing the entire hierarchy again.

After the initial hierarchy sync, the time taken to update the hierarchy is now around 1 minute, when it used to take around 1 hour. Note that the time taken depends on the number of entities that have been updated in the hierarchy.

The time for the first sync has also been reduced slightly.

Note: An iisreset is required after making changes to the Metadata Configuration Utility. We also recommend backing up the LastSyncState.json file as it contains information on the previous Merrick OI Sync.

Daily Completions

Daily Completions (CompletionDailyTb) are now included in the list of default columns that are included in the Merrick-OI sync.

The following columns are set as OI Available by default in the Merrick Metadata Configuration utility:

  • PumpDepth
  • JointsToFluid
  • FluidLevel

The following columns are set as available by the user:

  • LinerCasingPressure
  • OtherCasingPressure
  • AverageJointLength
  • RateOil
  • RateWater
  • RateGas
  • RateOilInj
  • RateWaterInj
  • RateGasInj

Customized Mapping Sheet Enhancements

The OIMapping.xlsx sheet is a superset of available fields that contain mapping instructions between Merrick and Explorer. It contains commonly used default fields which are always included in a sync, however users have expressed the need to map additional fields.

This release provides admin users with the ability to map additional fields to attributes outside of the fixed embedded list. It allows users to:

  • Add Attributes
  • Include additional Merrick Columns in the sync

The OIMapping.xslx spreadsheet has been decoupled from the installer and admin users are now able to edit it to include the additional fields that they want to map. The sheet is located in:
\Program Files\P2 Energy Solutions\P2 Explorer\Interop\Merrick

The file has been modified in two parts:

  • The original worksheets that contain the default minimum required mappings are now hidden, and not editable.
  • There is a new set of sheets suffixed with '(Default)' that contains the Merrick-OI mapping data (table and column name), along with a third column containing a checkbox. The checkbox is a toggle for that specific property.
    • If the checkbox is unselected, the sync will not attempt to add those properties.
    • If the checkbox is selected, the sync will attempt to add those properties.

This allows admin users to select specific columns to sync alongside the default ones, and to add new ones as needed.
