P2 Explorer trends and some pages allow you to enter comments about entities on the page or trend. This article describes how to identify comments and how to add them.
The Comments Button
A small comment icon on a page indicates that commentary has been enabled. The appearance of the icon may change, depending on the type of display and comments present.
Used on pages, this icon indicates that comments are enabled but no comments have been made yet. Click the icon to open the comment box.
Used on pages and trends, this icon indicates that a comment has been made. Click the icon to open the comment box.
Used in trend hairlines, this icon indicates that you can add a comment. Click the icon to open the comment box.
Comments on a Trend
Comments are indicated on a trend by a vertical dotted line, with a comment icon above. Click the comment icon to open the comment box to view, add, or reply to comments.
If you want to add a comment where none exists, click the trace to open a hairline, and then click the add comment icon in the hairline box, next to the entity you are interested in. The comment is added for the date and time that is shown in the hairline.

P2 Explorer allows you to see see all comments that have been made for that entity, all in one spot. The mechanism by which P2 Explorer exposes all comments related to a specific entity, is called "context", and this is something that the page designer does when creating a page.
As an entity can be used on lots of different pages, adding context to a comment means that you can see all of the comments that have been made for that entity, every time you open the comments box, no matter which page you are looking at.

On a page or trend, clicking any one of the comment icons () will open the comment box. This is where you can add comments, reply to comments, and find other comments, for that entity.
When you open the comment box, it displays a date range that has been specified by the page designer to be the default date range. It also shows all comments that have been added in that date range.
Finding a Comment
All comments within the specified time range are shown in the comment box, with the most recent one shown first.
To search for comments made at a specific date or within a date range, change the search dates. You can do this in the same way you would use the date picker.
Adding a Comment
When you add a comment, it is added as being applicable to a certain date range. This date range is displayed in the 'Search times' fields.
To add a comment:
Make sure the date is what you want it to be.
Type something into the box at the top.
Click Add.
Replying to a Comment
You can reply to a comment so that the conversation is threaded to one level. To reply to a comment:

Editing a Comment
Editing comments was added in P2 Explorer v4.4.3. To edit a comment:
1. Locate the comment you want to edit.
2. Click Edit.
3. Make the changes.
4. Click Save.
