Share Entry is a rule action that allows the same entry to be displayed in different entry tables. Any changes made to an entry, will change the entry everywhere.
Entries can be shared between different entry table types. This means you can share entries between, for example, a Case Entry table and a Log Entry table.
When an entry is shared, some fields are the same for both the source form and the destination form. Other fields are unique to the destination form and can be assigned a value defined in the rule configuration, assigned a list option, or configured to use the value from a field in the source entry that is of the same data type.
Rule Type | Entry Pre Processing or Entry Post Processing |
Trigger | An entry is created, or updated. |
Condition | The selected field is compared to a specified value. Specifying a condition is optional. |
Action | Share Entry |
The Share Entry action shares an entry between a source table and a destination table. For this to happen, a rule needs to be configured.
An entry can be shared between forms containing different fields.
Destination Form Fields
Destination Form Fields in the rule configuration, determines the source of the configurable data fields in the destination form.
When an entry is shared, some fields are the same in both the source form and the destination form.
Other fields are unique to the destination form, and in the rule configuration can be assigned:
- A value
- A list option
- A value from a field in the source entry, that is of the same data type.
Use Existing Field allows a source field to be matched to a destination field of the same data type. The source form fields are displayed in the dropdown list when the toggle is on.
