Shift Log Release 4.11.1

P2 Shift Log version 4.11 supports Azure authentication, improves the import/export process, and allows administrators to set whether a field's content will be searched.

Shift Log version 4.11.1 improves the results returned by an exact match search of entry text fields.

Exact Match Search Modification

An exact match search is as it states, an exact match.  It includes things like carriage returns, double spaces or any other non-visible characters that may be entered into the search field.

Be aware that if you copy some content, from a webpage for example, that covers multiple paragraphs, you may be pasting in carriage returns and other items that are not visible in a single line field (the Search Bar) and this will affect the exact match search.

In this release we have made some changes to better search for information without these effects and make the exact match search easier to use by ignoring some characters like carriage returns. However, as there are a huge number of possible combinations that a user can enter, it may still be possible to find a scenario where the text in the search bar looks the same, but is different due to a copy/paste of text into the search box, or double spaces, tab characters etc.

Exact match search works best when you are using single words, things like equipment names or identifiers where you know the exact term.  In these cases, using the fuzzy search (exact match turned off) will also return other words that are phonetically similar and may give you results that you did not want.

If you are trying to search for longer sentences of information, we recommend that you turn off exact match searching, and allow the fuzzy search to find the records that you are interested in, including returning words that are similar to your search terms.
